Here is a hat I made on a 41 peg circular loom. It is very square. On my next one, I may “knit two together” when I’m casting off at the top, so that it tapers in a bit more than on this one.

Thing-A-Day 2012 Day Nine: Puppet Eyes https://archive.laurelgreen.com/2012/02/09/thing-a-day-2012-day-nine-puppet-eyes/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=thing-a-day-2012-day-nine-puppet-eyes https://archive.laurelgreen.com/2012/02/09/thing-a-day-2012-day-nine-puppet-eyes/#comments Fri, 10 Feb 2012 03:21:02 +0000 Laurel Green https://archive.laurelgreen.com/?p=3326 Thing-A-Day 2012 Day 9: Puppet Eyes

These are some practice-eyes I’m going to be putting on some practice-puppets soon.

Then again, if the practice-puppets end up being awesome, maybe they’ll end up being regular-puppets.

Thing-A-Day 2012 Day One: Loom-Knit Socks https://archive.laurelgreen.com/2012/02/01/thing-a-day-2012-day-one-loom-knit-socks/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=thing-a-day-2012-day-one-loom-knit-socks https://archive.laurelgreen.com/2012/02/01/thing-a-day-2012-day-one-loom-knit-socks/#comments Thu, 02 Feb 2012 04:12:28 +0000 Laurel Green https://archive.laurelgreen.com/?p=3274 Thing-A-Day 2012 Day 1: Loom-Knit Socks

I made a pair of socks on a knitting loom today.

Knitting looms make it easy to whip up socks or a hat in a day, but because you have limited options for your number of stitches and gauge, it can be difficult to use them for large projects.

One of the socks is wider than the other because I wore it around for a bit.

Yarn https://archive.laurelgreen.com/2011/02/08/yarn/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=yarn https://archive.laurelgreen.com/2011/02/08/yarn/#comments Wed, 09 Feb 2011 00:37:31 +0000 Laurel Green https://archive.laurelgreen.com/?p=371 Balls of Yarn

I made these balls of yarn out of skeins of yarn. Whether these balls ever become more than balls remains to be seen, however.

ThinkClay https://archive.laurelgreen.com/2009/12/14/thinkclay/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=thinkclay https://archive.laurelgreen.com/2009/12/14/thinkclay/#comments Mon, 14 Dec 2009 11:54:06 +0000 Laurel Green https://archive.laurelgreen.com/?p=183 Sculpey Objects

I got some Sculpey III 010 Translucent and some Premo! Sculpey 5323 Green, because I wanted to test out just how translucent this kind of polymer clay would be once cooked.

It ended up being not very translucent at all. Especially, because I baked it for too long and it ended up yellowing. Whoops.

I also learned, for next time I use this stuff, that I have to refrigerate the polymer clay before I use it, or it will pretty much melt in my hands as I try to work it. Which is very strange, because you bake it to make it harden.

Incidentally, I have no idea what the difference between Sculpey III and Premo! Sculpey is. They have about the same texture and they have the same bake temperature and bake length.

The Lump is Taking Shape https://archive.laurelgreen.com/2009/11/29/the-lump-is-taking-shape/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=the-lump-is-taking-shape https://archive.laurelgreen.com/2009/11/29/the-lump-is-taking-shape/#comments Sun, 29 Nov 2009 22:29:47 +0000 Laurel Green https://archive.laurelgreen.com/?p=172 Lump is Taking Shape

I’ve started carving the cement lump. It still doesn’t look like much, though and the cement is a bit more crumbly than I’d like, but I still think it will turn out well. See if you can guess what it’s supposed to be.

In other news, I haven’t finished knitting a sweater I started in January and it’s cold again. The only piece I’ve finish for it is the back. It’s probably not going to be finished until next January.

In other, other news, NaBloPoMo is almost over. I wonder if I can hold out till the end.

I think I got the cement mixed correctly this time.

My gloves were too loose and, thus, there are wrinkle marks in my cement lump. It shouldn’t really matter, as I am sanding and carving it later.

Now, I just have to wait for it to dry a little more.

My original plan for an artsy farting for today was thwarted, so, instead you get this lovely picture of an amigurumi jellyfish that I handcrafted, all on my lonesome, on a dark and stormy night, with no defense against the predators and fiendish elements of the darkness…

Tis truly a cute jellyfish, no?

Anyway, I don’t think I have enough rings on my thumb.

Here’s the “Mystery Project” again. I’m going to have to go over the red lines once or twice more. That red is not quite as opaque as I’d like it to be.

In other news, the basement is once again cleared of people, so I can finally get back to working at night, without having to worry about waking people up. Productivity will soar!

See, now this dealie is starting to take shape. It’s got a pretty flower and everything.
