Here is a hat I made on a 41 peg circular loom. It is very square. On my next one, I may “knit two together” when I’m casting off at the top, so that it tapers in a bit more than on this one.

Thing-A-Day 2012 Day One: Loom-Knit Socks https://archive.laurelgreen.com/2012/02/01/thing-a-day-2012-day-one-loom-knit-socks/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=thing-a-day-2012-day-one-loom-knit-socks https://archive.laurelgreen.com/2012/02/01/thing-a-day-2012-day-one-loom-knit-socks/#comments Thu, 02 Feb 2012 04:12:28 +0000 Laurel Green https://archive.laurelgreen.com/?p=3274 Thing-A-Day 2012 Day 1: Loom-Knit Socks

I made a pair of socks on a knitting loom today.

Knitting looms make it easy to whip up socks or a hat in a day, but because you have limited options for your number of stitches and gauge, it can be difficult to use them for large projects.

One of the socks is wider than the other because I wore it around for a bit.

I made these balls of yarn out of skeins of yarn. Whether these balls ever become more than balls remains to be seen, however.

My original plan for an artsy farting for today was thwarted, so, instead you get this lovely picture of an amigurumi jellyfish that I handcrafted, all on my lonesome, on a dark and stormy night, with no defense against the predators and fiendish elements of the darkness…

Tis truly a cute jellyfish, no?

Anyway, I don’t think I have enough rings on my thumb.

Amigurumi

Amigurumi is the ancient Japanese art of knitting or crocheting things that are cute or, if you will, “kawaii”.

Here, I have crocheted an amigurumi mushroom. I shall make a place for in amongst the clutter of my desk.

I can’t decide whether or not to give it googly eyes.
