Sculpey Objects

I got some Sculpey III 010 Translucent and some Premo! Sculpey 5323 Green, because I wanted to test out just how translucent this kind of polymer clay would be once cooked.

It ended up being not very translucent at all. Especially, because I baked it for too long and it ended up yellowing. Whoops.

I also learned, for next time I use this stuff, that I have to refrigerate the polymer clay before I use it, or it will pretty much melt in my hands as I try to work it. Which is very strange, because you bake it to make it harden.

Incidentally, I have no idea what the difference between Sculpey III and Premo! Sculpey is. They have about the same texture and they have the same bake temperature and bake length.

As usual, inspiring to see your work.

I’ve only ever bought the Fimo clays and then hand it over to my kids to play with – so I can add little to the discussion.

I would imagine that translucency would depend on thickness as well.

Are you going to particpate in Thing-A-Day this year. Registration is now open and, if it is like last year, will be closed from 01-Feb.
